Abstract:

Increasing of population in the world caused overusing natural resources and land destruction. Salinization and sodification are two effects of land destruction. Leaching of soil soluble salts is the most appropriate method to emend and reclaim saline and sodic soils. In this study, Examination of different leaching methods of saline from sodic soils has been evaluated in Veis Area in Khoozestan Province. This area with 6000 m2 is located in north east part of Ahvaz city. Most of this region soil contain clay and fine texture which salinization and sodification is clear. Canalization has been performed to irrigate the area from Karun River. Two different leaching methods including intermittent Ponding leaching and sprayer leaching in Polyethylene culms with 15 cm diameter and 1 meter height of soil have been performed. The depth of utilized leaching were 25, 50, 75 and 100 cm, also estimated soil layers were 0-25, 25-50, 50-75 and 75-100 cm. According to our results, and experimental method were found for estimation of each leaching method. Based on the higher correlation coefficient and lower standard error, the best method was exponent model in intermittent Ponding method. The results indicated that intermittent leaching method needs less water to reclaim slightly soils, also by using this method better leaching efficiency coefficient will be exhibited.

Investigation of Leaching Requirement of Continuous and Alternate Ponding Methods in Saline and Sodic Soils in South of Khouzestan Province

In this study, leaching experiments were carried out by both continuous and alternate ponding methodsin the south of Khouzestan province. In equal applied water leaching, alternate ponding leachingmodel had a better performance than continuous ponding method in desalinization and dealkalization. In term of alternate method, there was not ayn difference between 5 and 8 day periods in one-meterdept...

development of different optical methods for determination of glucose using cadmium telluride quantum dots and silver nanoparticles

a simple, rapid and low-cost scanner spectroscopy method for the glucose determination by utilizing glucose oxidase and cdte/tga quantum dots as chromoionophore has been described. the detection was based on the combination of the glucose enzymatic reaction and the quenching effect of h2o2 on the cdte quantum dots (qds) photoluminescence.in this study glucose was determined by utilizing glucose...

Stability of a Calcareous Saline-Sodic Soil During Reclamation

General guidelines to reclaim saline or sodic soils do not adequately consider variables such as pH and the presence of organic matter that are known to affect soil stability. Poor structural stability of sodic, saline-sodic, and high-pH soils adversely influences crop yields; promotes piping, tunneling, and slope erosion; and can accelerate the failure of water conveyance systems. We evaluated...

Applying Biochar and Mineral Amendments to Remediate the Chemical Properties of a Saline-Sodic Soil

The present study was intended to improve the chemical properties of a saline-sodic soil using the individual application of alfalfa residue and two biochars produced from sugarcane bagasse and walnut shell, at the weighting ratio of 5%; their concomitant application with gypsum, aluminum sulfate and the mixture of these two chemical amendments was considered. The experiment was conducted in th...
